June Simpson – Kamera Special No.1

I’ve already published a copy of this cover on the ‘Specials and Calendar’s’ page, but this is a scan from my own copy which was my latest purchase via eBay and arrived last week. Published by Harrison Marks in December 1957 the cover features June Simpson, one of the favourite 50’s models.

The above image has been restored to remove several creases and the edge was well worn, but the overall condition of this magazine of over 57 years is very good. Like all Kamera editions it’s a small digest size magazine featuring 98 pages of your favourite early Harrison Marks models.  These include Pamela Green, June Simpson, Marie Deveraux, Julie, June Russell, Diane Hedges, Maxine, Eva Wild and Lydia Barton to name a few.

An excellent addition to my growing Kamera collection, which now stands at 9 standard Kamera Editions, Kamera Special No.1, Kamera Backstage and the 1960 Kamera Calendar.  Plenty more to collect and keep me going :)

Marie Deveraux – Amazonian Beauty!

Marie Deveraux wearing a long blonde wig posing in the studio wearing a pair of fur like panties. Marie had a fantastic figure and the pose here of leaning back only help to show it off to it’s full potential. This shot was one of several from this set that was published in Kamera No.1 (1957)

Pamela Green – Only Pearls

Pamela Green posing holding just a string of pearls nude from the pages of the Kamera Special No.1 (1957).  A beautifully posed shot of Pam with her familiar blonde hair by Harrison Marks from page 13 of the first Kamera Special.

Mary Deighan – A Quick Break Between Poses!

Mary Deighan having a quick smoke as she reads the paper in the side wings. Taken from Kamera Backstage (1959) It still seems strange seeing a photo of a model posing with a cigarette, but back then it was socially acceptable and no one knew the health issues smoking would cause!

Pat Davis Backstage

One of the few shots of Pat Davis from the pages of Kamera Backstage (1959). If memory serves me right she only appears in 3 shots including this one and the other two are silhouette or partial shots of her.

Rita Landre – Redhead in White

If we’re talking redheads we must not forget one of my all time favourite redheads that wasn’t and that was Rita Landre, or as we all know now Pamela Green in red wig. This shot of Rita amongst the white fur by Harrison Marks comes from the Carnival Annual 1956 and looks to have come from the same set as her on the cover of Foto No.13, which then dates that magazine around the same time. I’m sure that looks like the top of her areola peeking out above the top of the fur?

Lynn Shaw – A Leafy Outlook

Lynn (Lyn) Shaw from the inside cover of Carnival Annual (1956) photographed by Russell Gay. Lynn always looks so elegant in the shots I’ve seen and published of her and this is no different, although the strategically placed leaves over her nipples gave me a chuckle.

The Perfect Pamela Pose! (Original)

Just when you thought seen everything, something else pops in to your mailbox that makes you stop and stare and this was one of those images. A fantastic image of Pamela Green in a perfect pose, perched on a column by Harrison Marks one assumes.

Thanks to Simon for sending it through and adding some context around the image as it’s one I’ve never come across. It was used on a single image calendar back in the 1950’s (1957 I think), the type that had a company’s name branded on it. I saw a few of these on eBay some months back and they appeared to be banner size and quite long, with the branding at the top and the calendar part below the image. Very rare and they went for more than I could afford! Anyone seen or know of any other of these type of calendars, not just Pamela?

Still an absolutely stunning image of Pam and as a redhead and not Rita. It seems she went through a redhead phase in the late 1950’s as I’m finding more and more of her as a redhead with both short and long hair.
