Jean Spaul posing against some bill posters for a shot for Kamera Backstage (1959). Looking very glamorous and made up in this shot with thick black eyelashes and perfect lipstick, very 1950’s!
The Kamera Club – One Year Old!
Another milestone for this blog this week, as well as the 1000th post a few weeks ago, I’ve been running this blog for a year! In that time I’ve made 1017 posts with over a million views and had over 900 comments or feedback on what I’ve posted! Not bad for a little blog I set up so I could enjoy images and articles around Harrison Marks, Kamera and other photographers and models from the 1950’s and 60’s! Yes, I may have wandered with the content and subject matter a little, but hey it’s my blog :)
Images of the opening of GHM’s photography exhibition at Gerrard Street,
including guests Pamela Green and Harry H. Corbett who opened the exhibition.
The last year has gone by in a blur and my passion for Kamera and this blog hasn’t diminished one bit, I’d say I’m more passionate about it and sharing all that fabulous work more than ever. I’ve come across some great work, both common and some unseen and been able to share it all here. I’ve made some great contacts that not only interact with me and the site, but have provided great insight and content from their own experiences. This has not only enhanced this site, but spawned ‘Just June’ a separate blog dedicated to the lovely June Palmer. I’ve also been contacted by some of the models that posed for GHM that are still around today, who have enjoyed the blog and that just blew me away as great praise indeed.
Thanks must go to everyone for supporting this site, including John W for all of his support and June content, Simon, Portland, Roop, Oldiznewagain, David, PhilD and the list goes on and on.
Where next? Onwards and upwards as they say! I will continue to post the things I enjoy and find for my own and everyone else’s pleasure. Where will it be in another year, who knows but I hope you stay to find out.
Thanks everyone!

Dawn Chorus – Part 1
The first part of an article title ‘Dawn Chorus’ from New Kamera No.1 (1969) and featuring Dawn Grayson in long blonde wig. The photo’s from this article were shot by GHM on the ‘Hollywood’ set at Lily Place Studios in 1964 and include the very familiar long transparent dressing gown. Dawn’s alias when wearing the long blonde wig was Liza Martelle, another made up name by GHM!
My 50th Dawn Grayson post as well, in case your interested :)

The Man & His Muse
The man himself, Harrison Marks with Jennifer Garland from the opening page of Kamera Backstage (1959). There are numerous shots of the GHM taking photo’s of all the lovely models that worked for him, but I tended to focus on the models rather than GHM for some reason. This shot as he says himself in the editorial has him looking rather sinister, but it’s a good one and includes Jennifer, so why not!
Rusty Gaynor's Behind!
Rusty Gaynor from the pages of Glamorous Girls No.2 (1960’s), which contains reprints from Harrison Marks work from Kamera and his other publications. I’ve been trying to find an eloquent way of expressing my initial reaction to seeing this image, but so far haver failed, so ……. damn that’s one great curvy arse!
An Glistening Erica
It seems that Harrison Marks had a thing for Erica, well Erica oiled up anyway as I’ve seen more or Erica with oil on her body than other models for GHM. Not that I’m complaining as her body and those curves sure do look good when oiled up! This excellent example of her oiled curves comes from Kamera No.29 (1960)
