Brides in The Bath – Part 1 (Video)

So as promised the full version of ‘Brides in the Bath’, well part 1 anyway, as I needed to keep the file size down for hosting!
This film was based loosely around the true life story of serial killer and bigamist George Joseph Smith.  I won’t bore you with the details, but if your interested in the real story there is a link here
The story behind this film … Arthur Howell was hired to shoot a musical version of the Brides in the Bath story by someone whose name might have been Moscowicz. The details about who wanted this film are sketchy as the notes made at the time were destroyed in a fire. Fortunately the film itself survived. Harry Roy was to have written the music, but he died before shooting started, but the film was shot silent anyway. As Roy died on 1st February 1971, the film must have been shot at some point after this.  Arthur was never paid, so he hung onto the film until he sold it to my contact John W around 1985. He put together the film as best he could, but the film bears very little resemblance to the real story.

So how did I come by this film?  I saw a brief clip ‘June The Newlywed’ on YouTube posted by John and mailed him to ask permission to use the short clip being a June Palmer fan.  John kindly replied saying I could use the clip and then offered me the full film and the history of the film as described above.  Great I thought, an unseen June Palmer film to share, but I nearly fell of my chair when I watched the full version!  Not only does it start June Palmer, but a number of other well known models of that time including Teri Martine, Dawn Grayson, Jayne Tracey and others I have as of yet been unable to identify. The highlights for me?  The Dawn Grayson & June Palmer bath scenes of course!

George (?)

1st Wife (?)

Waitress/Maid (Teri Martine)

Matron? (?)

Mistress/2nd Wife (Dawn Grayson)

For those wanting to skip through things Teri Martine starts at 7 minutes and Dawn Grayson at 17 minutes

So I leave you to enjoy part 1, with part 2 coming soon!  In the meantime can anyone identify the other models or the real name of George?  If so please do let me know?

P.S. If the video fails at any point, do let me know :)

Candid Shot of June Palmer on Holiday

Good Morning! A teaser to start the posts today …

A Beautiful candid shot of June Palmer on holiday (Early 1960’s?)  Your starter for 10, can anyone identify the location?  It looks like some kind of port in the background, but where, Corsica as she was known to holiday there?  No prizes for guessing just the kudos!

How Much Editing Do I Do?

Someone asked the question on how much I edit the images published on here, which doesn’t have a straightforward answer!  It depends! It depends on the size and quality of the original, but my view is that I only restore or enhance, but not alter.  Most of the time it’s restoring colour, removing blemishes and scratches and tweaking highlights and contrast and re-sizing if they are large files.  Overall, nothing that drastically alters the context of the original.

I’ll use another June Palmer shot as an example.

The original image scanned directly from a 120 film negative

My Edit – A slight crop of the image, colours enhanced and restored & a few scratches removed and that is it!

The purists will say don’t mess with the original, but I prefer the colours in my edit!

The image is another JP original from John W of June as Joanna Kent in strawberry blonde wig on the beach and I love it!  I think it’s the pose and June’s bum!

June Palmer in 3D!

Back from my holiday and starting off with something a bit different!  Go grab your old red/cyan 3D glasses (If you can still find them!) and behold the magnificence of June Palmer in glorious 3D!
This was kindly provided by John W, who had the pleasure of actually taking these photo’s of June himself in one of the many sessions he attended at Strobe Studios during the 1980’s.  The image works very well in 3D, as I found some 3D glasses and all I’ve done is clean up the image.

June in the Bath (Video Clip)

After posting a recent video clip of June Palmer the Newlywed, John W was kind enough to send me his full version of ‘Brides in the Bath’, which runs to nearly an hour long!  Anyway I’m currently working out a way to get the whole thing hosted so I can publish it.

In the meantime as a test a little clip from it, with June taking a bath (contains some nudity if easily offended!)

Usual disclaimer applies – If you wish to share this clip, then please ask or link back to this original, otherwise it will be removed!

Safe Shoes Prevent Purlers!

Another original June Palmer bit of memorabilia from John W*.  A British Safety Council poster featuring June Palmer. This is an old fax, sent from London to New York on 12th November 1966. I wonder if any of the original faxes survived?

For those that don’t want neck ache, the original text on the fax read:
(WITH AMS BUDGET STORY BY EDDY GILMORE)
(NY.20-Nov.  10)–WATCH YOUR PURLEY GAIT!–The British Safety Council is mailing 20,000 factories a poster featuring pretty model June Palmer in high heeled shoes taking a tumble and the slogan: Safe Shoes Prevent Purlers. Purler is Cockney slang for falling on your rear. The Council suggests that the posters be put up on factory bulletin boards as a warning that high heels cause falls.(APWirephoto by cable from London)
(a51200pw)1966
It seems The British Safety Council had a thing for using popular models of the time on their posters, as Dawn Grayson caused quite a stir when she appeared on a poster for eye protection.
I’m really pleased to be sharing this unique images, as I think it should be shared, but please where possible if you share elsewhere link back to this original.
