Lorraine Burnett by Eva Grant (1957)

Lorraine Burnett posing in a red and white polka dot bikini from Fiesta Magazine (June 1957). This was from a feature of articles by Eva Grant called ‘changecoat’ showing how the appearance of a model can be complete changed by clothes, hairstyles. lighting etc. This was changecoat No.6 featuring different images on Lorraine Burnett.

Can You Guess Who? (1958)

Through-out his Kamera publications, as well as publishing full shots of his models Harrison Marks liked to intersperse close up shots of the nude female anatomy. Always tastefully done and posed it makes you wonder who the models actually were for these shots.  Some are obvious and you can have an educated guess at the model, but like the two above from Kamera No.9 (1958) I have no idea! Still a beautiful body and figure to look at whilst your trying to guess :)

Sylvana Manto or Madelaine Bannister?

So I’ve been seeing more and more shots of Sylvana Manto recently, so I did some digging around to see where else she appeared. In doing so I came across several early publications of Spick and Span featuring Madelaine Bannister, who on looking I am sure is the same person? Going under the name Sylvana she appeared in publications such as Fiesta, Kamera Special No.1 around 1957 and Kamera No.9 (1958)

If I were a betting man I’d say they were the same person and the Sylvana name was an alias made up by the likes of Harrison Marks or Russell Gay, but then most models didn’t use their real name at all so maybe both are? Can anyone add further proof Sylvana and Madeliane are one and the same?

Either way I’ve got some great original shots of her coming up!

Into Rita's Boudoir

The sultry Rita Landre (Pamela Green) posing in her boudoir and looking very enticing in her fishnet stockings, garter and star choker. Similar shots of Pam as Rita appear in early editions of Kamera and would put this shot around the late 1950’s, somewhere around 1958/59? Thanks to Kevin for the original scan.

Julie – Kamera No.9 Cover

Finally got my hands on a very good condition copy of Kamera No.9 (1958) featuring the ever exotic Julie! Plenty of Julie shots inside including the colour centre pages, along with other great early HM models, including Pamela Green (of course!), Margaret Warhurst, Sylvana Manto and Lorraine Burnett.
An excellent conditioned copy with very little wear considering it’s age and all for the bargain price of £4.99 from eBay. Yes that low! I know most copies in good condition go for a lot more, but unfortunately or fortunately in my case eBay crashed last week for several hours and I was winning the auction at £4.99, but expecting it to go a lot higher. Anyway the auction disappeared during the crash and it’s end time passed, so I assumed it would be re-listed, but no I got an email I’d won it at the starting price and the seller honoured it! So thanks to the eBay crash and a nice seller I got Kamera No.8 and Kamera No.9 for a total of £11! Must have been my day as never normally that lucky on bidding.

Mary Deighan's Behind (1958)

An early shot of Mary Deighan from Kamera No.11 (1958) giving us a perfect view of her great bottom as she poses bent over a bed for Harrison Marks. This photo also confirms that it may well have been taken at GHM’s flat and that this photo was taken by him as well, as it has the same curtains in both shots :)

Eva Wild (1950's)

Eva Wild, one of the earlier Harrison Marks models that appeared in Kamera No.1, 6, 11 & No.15 as well as ‘In Focus’ issues No.1, 2 & No.13. As well as early copies of Carnival and Fiesta. This is an amazing shot of Eva by GHM and looks like it could have been a ‘selfie’ from the camera angle if taken today!

I love it when I get sent images from new contacts and this stunner of Eva comes from Kevin, whom I only just realized was also ‘Kevintagist’ over on eBay! Kevin runs Pinupmemories and has sent me through images in the past, but as soon as I saw this one I had to edit it and post it!

Kevin has some stunning original negatives over on his eBay site, including loads of great Harrison Marks slides, so go take a look. I’m hoping to tap him up for a few scans at some point, but what he has sent me so far, like Eva above are stunning high quality scans, so thanks Kevin!
