Princess Sonmar H'Arricks in the Hay!

A beautifully restored shot of Pamela Green as Princess Sonmar H’Arricks (or Harricks depending on who you speak to!) by Harrison Marks and used in he 1961 Kamera calendar.  Her name is an anagram of Harrison Marks if you didn’t already know and god knows how long it took her to ‘black’ up for these shots.

Thanks to Simon for the huge scans of the 1961 calendar that allowed me to restore the images to the quality above.  I previously published the images from the 1961 calendar, but will be replacing them over the next few weeks with bigger and better shots.

Annette Johnson – The Coal Miners Daughter

I’ve been very remiss with publishing some models and Annette Johnson is one of them, so I’ll set things straight with this lovely shot of Miss Johnson.

Annette became one of GHM’s regular models and was a coal miner’s daughter from Lancashire. Her career started very similar to many models in 1960’s when she started posing with local camera clubs and was posing by age 16 upstairs for the owner of the local shoe store in which she was working,  her blond hair was real and so was everything else..

By 1970/71 she had apparently finished nude work for good, a short career compared to others. She was to reappear in the 1980’s working for Knave magazine as an agony aunt and posing with a more rounded and mature figure and unafraid to show more of herself than in the past.


She worked professionally under at least three other names, including Annette Scotson, Karen Fraser and Annette Bristow to name a few.  A lovely lady by all accounts and one that loved her pets, both cats and dogs.

The Naked World Of Harrison Marks Poster

Something slightly different – A restored rare film poster promoting the feature film ‘The Naked World of Harrison Marks’.

Rare due to the fact that this typical Harrison Marks exploitation film was refused a certificate by the National Censors (BBFC), but by submitting the film for Local Authority review (London) GHM was able to get the film approved for viewing in a select number of cinemas. As a consequence, the print run for this poster was strictly limited as very few establishments were able to show it. The film provided a progression of buxom beauties with Marks himself appearing in various guises, along with Pamela Green and June Palmer and many other models that have become synonymous with modelling for GHM.

Rosina Revelle

Not one of GHM’s models but still a well photographed young lady from the late 1950’s.  A well developed chest cut off in it’s prime, when her parents realized the type of modelling she was doing and put an abrupt stop to it! What a shame, as I’m sure she would have had an illustrious career had she continued, or should I say I saw ‘Big’ things ahead for her!

Monique – A Walk on the Wild Side!

If you read this blog more than once you will know as well as publishing images of my favourite models from the 1950’s and 60’s by GHM and other photographers, I’m also interested on what happened to them beyond. Did the models carry on, did they retire or did they take up a totally unrelated career, are just some of the things that interest me.  Some are easy and already well documented such as Margaret Nolan, Pamela Green and June Palmer, but for others it is less well known what happened to them.

Well thanks to a great article by Gavcrimson on his blog a little more light has now been shed on Monique Devereux (Monique Leitzau).

Gav’s article aptly called ‘All the boys love Monique Deveraux‘ goes into detail about the less glamorous side of modelling and amateur photography through the eyes one of such amateur photographer named Dave.  I won’t go through the details as you can read Gav’s article from the link above, but what it does do is give us a small insight (via Dave’s own page) about Monique.

Dave’s own page about Monique (Here) throws up some interesting things about Monique post her GHM days, such as …
  • She lived and worked around the Tipton/Dudley area.
  • She worked as an assistant in a photo shop in Walsall and modelled for a photo studio attached to the shop.
  • She allowed a more ‘hands on’ type of photo session for some amateurs.
  • Her boobs were FALSE! She had silicone implants, this I did not know, but I suppose the hands on approach confirmed this!
  • She continued to live and work in a bar in the Wolverhampton area.
Dave also comments that he also photographed Paula Page and that she was fairly short and this made her boobs looked disproportionately large. He also enjoyed the softness of her boobs before she stopped modelling, which indicates another more hands on approach.

So for all the glamour we see in the publications of GHM, there was also a more down to earth side to the models, where they continued to model and earn a living through the avenues of amateur photography. Much to the pleasure of those such as Dave that had the opportunity to photograph these models and then share the outputs with us.
