The King is Dead, Long Live The King!

As some of you may have noticed and commented the official Harrison Marks website closed as of the 31st July 2015. This is a real shame as it was a site I regularly visited for reference, as well as being a member of the ‘Green Door’, but times are hard and it wasn’t cost effective to keep site running, which I can totally relate to!

Anyway, rest easy as the works of Harrison Marks, his publications, films and other memorabilia will continue to be acknowledged through ‘The Kamera Club’. So tell your friends and associates that we’re here and will continue to post and publish original work for the foreseeable future.

I’m heading off on a well earned summer holiday shortly (with no Internet access!), so there will be a two week hiatus where posts will stop, but I will return refreshed and raring to post more stuff after the 24th August. So, all enjoy your summer holiday, thanks as always for all the support of the site and I’ll see you all in a few weeks! There will be a few posts until Thursday, but then I’m gone :)

2000th Post!

I didn’t realize on Friday when I posted ‘Wendy’s Wily Ways!‘, that it was my 2000th post on the Kamera Club site. The first post was on 3rd March 2013, so the site has been running 2 years, 4 months and 14 days or 866 days! That works out at 2.3 posts a day since it’s been running.

An awful lot has happened in that time on the site, so many thanks to all of you for the image contributions, knowledge and comments over the last 866 days :)

Small Site Update!

A small website update this month, mostly tidying up some broken links and images.  I’ve also added 4 new galleries, Va Va Voom!, June Dressed, Sheer Delight and Ewhurst Escapades under the new galleries section, with more coming.

Site Update

Just an update on some of the changes to the site since it moved:

  1. I have a new gallery creator and I’ve added a number of new galleries to the gallery page, with more coming – Ann Austin & Angela Duncan added.
  2. New GHM Publications page – Gallery listing of other Harrison Marks publications, with links through to posted images from those publications – Still on-going with a few links working.
  3. Model listing – Updating with new galleries to make it easier to manage and add new models, includes the unknown model page.
  4. Members now see larger images on all posts
  5. Members downloads – I’ve offered a few images for downloads, but experimental to see if this is something people would want?

I’m also working on the following:

  1. A film section of GHM’s films that will provide details of his films and possibly viewable versions.
  2. Updating the ‘other’ vintage magazines page similar to the other galleries.
  3. Updating the Kamera & Solo listings in the new gallery style.

All this as well as continuing to post the fantastic content I have and receive from various sources. If you have any feedback or improvement suggestions then please do leave me feedback.

Image Hosting & Flickr

For those that didn’t realize, didn’t know or don’t care I host and store all my photo’s over on Flickr and I’ve been using the site personally since 2007. I only started using Flickr to host my Kamera Club images in May 2013, but have already amassed over 4000 images that have been published. I tried many hosting options before settling on Flickr, but the main reasons were that you got more control over your images on Flickr than other places. I tried Google+ and Google Photo’s, but they have a very strict policy on nudity and their automated system for checking images regularly removed the most obscure shots containing the odd boob, but would leave a full frontal shot alone!

With Flickr you have a lot more control and as long as you have your content and privacy settings correct, you can pretty much publish anything! I also find you have a lot more control over your images, who can see them, what size and what people can do with the images.

What I didn’t realize was how many sets I’d amassed in such a short space of time, 219! Thankfully your given a Terabyte of storage and I’ve not even touched 1% of it yet. I’m also a control freak, so all my sets are organised and in order, as you can see below :)

So, if you have a Flickr account feel free to head over to my account and take a look and follow it if you want. you’ll get to see most of my images, well those I’ve published and allow publicly anyway!

The only down side to Flickr is video hosting as they don’t allow very long clips, but I have a solution for that thankfully, so it’s not a deal breaker.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm Done For Today!

That’s it post wise today, as if that isn’t enough, but I thought I’d give a quick update on some things that I’ve been doing.

  • General update of the site fixing some broken links etc.
  • Vintage Magazines – Updated and linked to some of the new magazine scans
  • Kamera Specials – Images updated to better resolution and size and update the links, so they link to all the published pages so far.
  • Models Page – Updated and checked all links work
  • Unknown Models – Added those that have been identified and a few new ones that are still unknown


Only a small update :)

Xmas Cracker – Just June

Well not a cracker in itself more an early Xmas present, as the sister site to The Kamera Club exclusively for June Palmer is now live!  Just June will now host all of my June Palmer content in it’s own easy to use site.  Here you will now find all things June, including:

  • Original never before published June Images 
  • Original June Images & Videos taken by our very own John W
  • Image galleries and sets
  • Filmography
  • New content with regular updates and much more!
